Dr. Fitzpatrick is from a small town in the Florida panhandle. While the climate may be very different here, she sees many similarities in the kindness and generous spirit of the people of Upstate New York which has made her feel right at home. Dr. Fitzpatrick received her veterinary degree from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006, where she was valedictorian of her class. She was immediately accepted into a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Colorado State University, which she completed in June 2007. She was then accepted into a highly competitive small animal surgery residency at Cornell University. During the third year of her residency, she served as chief resident for both orthopedic and soft tissue services. While on staff at Cornell, she taught veterinary students, interns and residents, published numerous scientific papers, and completed her surgical credentials to sit for the board examination. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in February, 2011.
She joined the staff at VSRC in 2010, bringing the cutting edge approaches to treating surgical conditions that are currently utilized at Cornell University. In addition to her broad experience in orthopedic, soft tissue and neurologic procedures, Dr. Fitzpatrick's special areas of interest include angular limb deformities, corrective osteotomies, surgical oncology, and minimally invasive procedures such as arthroscopy, thoracoscopy and laparoscopy. Her areas of research include canine tibial deformities, post-operative pain management, and canine osteosarcoma.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her fiancé and pets.
