Our Internship program provides intensive, advanced surgical training to young veterinarians interested in pursuing Surgical Residencies.
The doctors and staff of Veterinary Specialties are excited to announce that we now offer a surgical internship at our small animal surgical referral practice.
This internship will build upon the training received in a general medical and surgical internship and is directed primarily at those veterinarians that are interested in increased preparation and training prior to applying for surgical residencies. Interns will take an active role in all facets of surgical patient management, including consultations, diagnostics, pre- and post-operative management and surgery. A varied and large case-load of orthopedic, neurosurgical, soft tissue and reconstructive surgeries will be seen. Daily case rounds, as well as formal and informal discussions on pertinent surgical topics help make this program an excellent teaching opportunity. Exposure to other specialty fields (Oncology, Internal medicine, Cardiology) through our visiting specialists further enhances this experience and provides a well-rounded training venue.
Given the type and level of training provided, a general medical/surgical small animal internship is a prerequisite for application to this program. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate a strong desire to continue post graduate training in the form of a surgical residency. Interested applicants should send a letter of interest and copy of their resume to the address below.
