The images below show the repair of the fracture with a bone plate and screws. The surgery took 2 1/2 hours and the patient went home walking on his repaired leg the very next day. |
Below are radiographs of a young Labrador Retriever who was brought to us for a fractured femur (thigh). Pre-Operative radiographs show the fracture and post-operative radiographs show the bone plate used to repair the fracture. This surgery took about 1 1/2 hours. In most cases, the bone plate will stay in for the rest of the patient's life.
